Student of the Week

March 23—Shai Prime

Shai Prime, a senior at East High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of March 23. 

Prime was selected for her strong academic performance, involvement in school activities and positive influence among her peers. She maintains a high GPA while enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Scholar program. 

During her time at East, Prime has participated in cheerleading, swimming, wrestling, choir, andThunderbird TV; and is the copy editor for the school yearbook. 

“Shai is boundlessly optimistic and approaches all challenges with an attitude of ‘We can do this!’ ” East counselor Rick Simineo said.

Following graduation, Prime plans to attend the University of Wyoming, where she will major in social work. She aspires to pursue a career in therapy, with the goal of creating a supportive environment that helps others grow and succeed. 

Prime selected Matt Woodard as her favorite teacher, citing his passion for student growth, patience and the support he has provided throughout high school.

 

Board Employee Spotlight

March—Christell Gomez

Christell Gomez, an accounts receivable specialist, has been selected as the Laramie County School District 1 Board Employee Spotlight for the month of March. She will be recognized on Monday, March 16, at 6 p.m. in the Storey Gym Boardroom, 2811 House Ave.

Gomez is a dedicated employee who has worked for the district for four years. She is a valuable member of the finance team and is known for going above and beyond, taking pride in all she does, and her willingness to help with projects.

“She goes the extra mile, not only for our department, but also for those she works with in schools and departments,” Senior Accountant Kristine Sara said.
