Oct. 13—Nyah Herrera

Nyah Herrera, a senior at East High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 13.
Herrera was selected by the committee for her commitment to education and her creativity. She maintains high grades and excels in the Fine and Performing Arts pathway.
Herrera participates in the daily Thunderbird TV broadcast, drama club, theatre productions and Poetry Out Loud. She is known for her positive attitude and strong work ethic.
“Nyah is a great student. She is always willing to contribute her talents to help the East High School community,” said Sly Johnson, East High guidance counselor.
Following graduation, Herrera plans to attend Emerson College, where she will major in writing and minor in performance.
Herrera selected Cody Fournier as her favorite teacher because she enjoyed taking his creative writing class. “His kindness and efforts to encourage students to use their voice resonated with me,” Herrera said.
