Oct. 20—Della Ortega

Della Ortega, a seventh grade student at Johnson Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 20.
Ortega was selected by the committee for her kindness, integrity, responsibility and excellence. She is welcoming to everyone and goes out of her way to make her classmates feel included.
Ortega serves on the student council where she leads by example and strives to have a positive impact on those around her. “Her leadership and reliability maker her someone both teachers and students can depend on,” Johnson Principal Aaron Moon said.
Ortega is known for taking the initiative to lend a hand whenever it is needed. She recently volunteered at a pancake breakfast to help raise funds for another student’s medical bills.
Ortega selected Janet Weisbrook as her favorite teacher because Weisbrook makes every experience fun and exciting.
