Jan. 12—Vivian Xiang

Vivian Xiang, a seventh grade student at Carey Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Jan. 12.
Xiang was selected for her focus, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. She maintains a 4.0 GPA while enrolled in honors classes and has achieved perfect attendance.
Xiang excels in her Mandarin class. She also participates in volleyball and helps at her family’s restaurant.
She is known for doing what is right in every class. When she is not in class, she can be found helping friends and teachers in a variety of ways.
“Carey is lucky to have a student with the skills and talents that she possesses attend our school,” said Carey Principal Matt Schlagel.
Xiang selected Michael Newton as her favorite teacher because he is kind, calm and willing to help students. Xiang also appreciates Newton’s high academic expectations.
