Jan. 26—Sophia Meese

Sophia Meese, an eighth-grade student at McCormick Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Jan. 26.
Meese was selected for her academic excellence and involvement in academics and extracurricular activities. She maintains high grades while taking honors classes. She also participates in cheerleading and orchestra.
Meese is known for being kind, diligent and driven, consistently setting a positive example for her peers through her effort and engagement.
Outside of school, Meese enjoys dancing, painting, reading and spending time with friends. She has been invited to dance with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra for the past two years.
Meese selected her orchestra teacher, Leslie Fox, as her favorite teacher because of the light and energy she brings to the classroom. “Sophie is one of my hardest working students,” Fox said. “Her behavior and focus set the tone for her classmates, and she is a wonderful example for others.”
