Feb. 16—Eliza Scranton

Eliza Scranton, a senior at Central High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1's Student of the Week for the week of Feb. 16.
Scranton was selected for her academic achievement and involvement at Central High School. She is known for her kindness, organization and selflessness. She maintains a 4.0 GPA, is a Capstone candidate, and serves as senior class secretary. She has been a member of student council for two years.
Scranton is involved in numerous organizations both in and out of school, including National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society, where she serves as secretary. She is the president of the Central High French Club.
Scranton participates in color guard and band, having earned All-State Band recognition two years in a row. She is a member of the WAC team and has participated in multiple school musicals.
Teachers describe Scranton as someone who will drop everything to help others in need.
Outside of school, Scranton is involved in community music and band groups as well as community theatre, where she serves as stage mange. She is also active in her church.
Scranton has committed to Carleton College where she plans to study linguistics and French.
Scranton selected Mari Eisenhart as her favorite teacher because she goes above and beyond to help her students and is always there for them.
