Feb. 23—Aaron Walker

Aaron Walker, a 12th grade student at South High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Feb. 23.
Walker was selected for his academic achievement and consistent display of South High’s core values. He has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout junior high and high school while taking Advanced Placement and honors courses. Walker earned a near-perfect score on the ACT, receiving the highest score at South last year.
Walker plays percussion in band and has served as drum line section leader for two years. He has also been a member of the All-State Honor Ensemble all four years of high school.
Walker is described as a great role model who exemplifies South’s core values of Honor, Enthusiasm, Responsibility and Determination (HERD). He is known for always doing the right thing, taking responsibility for his actions, setting high standards for himself and helping his peers succeed.
Following graduation, Walker plans to serve a mission with his church before attending the University of Wyoming to study psychology or education.
Walker selected Dan Marcum as his favorite teacher because of the support and encouragement he has provided. Walker values Marcum’s knowledge in mathematics and life experience and the way he shares it with his students.
