March 2—Jackson Lucero

Jackson Lucero, an eighth grade student at Carey Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of March 2.
Lucero was selected by the committee for his excellence in all that he does. He maintains a 4.0 GPA while taking multiple honors classes.
Lucero approaches each day with a calm, kind and caring attitude. His positivity and dedication to doing his best are noticed by staff and classmates. “He is an exceptional student, and Carey is lucky to have a student with his talent and skills attending our school,” Carey Principal Matt Schlagel said.
Lucero is a member of National Junior Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Congressional Award Club, where he is close to reaching the bronze level. He also participates in football, basketball and track.
Outside of school, Lucero is a First Class Boy Scout and teaches a faith formation class each week.
Lucero selected RaeAnn Merry as his favorite teacher because she pushed him to work hard and helped him succeed in math.
