Carey students launch weather balloon

Carey Junior High students recently partnered with local meteorologist Don Day to release a weather balloon.
It may not look like much, but this lightweight, plastic contraption took to the skies for an incredible trip around the world. According to Day, the balloon is a new type that can withstand high altitude conditions. It can send data via radio signals, and students can track its location and data with their phones. Less than a month after its release, it had already traveled around the world once and was tracked to the coast of Japan.
