Mathematics Vision
Laramie County School District 1 will develop mathematically confident students who are empowered to make sense of their world now and in the future. Students will learn from effective and confident teachers who provide a learning environment that fosters opportunities for students to:

  • persevere in classrooms where productive struggle is valued and seen as a growth opportunity
  • experience meaningful tasks that build procedural fluency from conceptual understanding
  • engage and reflect in their learning process to responsibly advocate for themselves
  • demonstrate critical thinking by engaging in problem-solving, questioning, and collaborative discourse

Mathematics Mission Statement

  • Access and Equity: students are engaged in learning through high quality curriculum, best instructional practices, and high expectations.
  • Curriculum: students are engaged with connections between mathematical ideas and real-world scenarios to develop a coherent understanding of mathematics.
  • Tools and Technology: students are engaged with appropriate tools and technology to promote mathematical understanding, reasoning, and communication.
  • Assessment: students are engaged with assessment practices that promotes self-reflection, provides data, informs feedback, instructional decisions, and program improvement.
  • Professionalism: teachers are engaged in their personal and collective growth of teaching and learning to ensure the mathematical success of every student.
